Move-out and move-in cleaning in Round Rock

Moving out, moving in, or both? Text me the move date and the size of the home. I’ll help you find a local cleaner who can fit the gap between movers and keys.

OnHand Home is not a cleaner. I help you find one, and you get their business name before you agree to anything. There is no charge for my help. You pay the cleaner for the work.

What the work involves

A move-out clean is done in an empty, or nearly empty, home. The cleaner can reach every surface, so the list is longer than a regular clean: inside the oven, fridge and dishwasher, inside cabinets and drawers, baseboards, closets, blinds, light fixtures and the garage floor if you ask.

A move-in clean uses the same list for a home you are about to fill. Many buyers and renters want it done before the first box comes through the door, since this is the only easy time to reach inside cabinets.

Timing is the hard part. The cleaner needs the home empty, and you need it done before the key handoff or the closing. Pick the day and the backup day early.

Why people book a move-out or move-in clean

  • You are a renter and want to leave the place in clean condition
  • You are selling and the buyer’s walkthrough is coming
  • You bought a home and the previous owners left it dirty
  • You are moving in with a baby or pets and want it clean first
  • You do not have the time, car or energy to clean after loading a truck
  • The landlord gave you a cleaning list and a deadline

Plan the timing with your movers

The order of the day decides whether the clean works.

  • Movers first, cleaner second. The cleaner needs empty rooms. Book the cleaner for the afternoon the truck leaves, or the next morning.
  • Keep a gap for touch-ups. If you can, leave a day between the clean and the key handoff. Movers scuff walls and track dirt.
  • Move-in before the furniture arrives. If you can, clean before the truck is unloaded. After that, the cabinets and floors are hard to reach.
  • Do you also need carpet cleaning? Carpet is usually a separate trade. Schedule it after the clean, once the home is empty and the dirt is off the floor.

What changes the price

A move-out clean is priced by the work in the checklist. Agree on the list before the day, in writing.

  • The size of the home and the number of bathrooms
  • The condition. A well-kept home is faster than a home with buildup.
  • Whether appliances, cabinets, blinds and windows are included
  • Whether the home is fully empty, or items remain
  • Short notice. A tight deadline can limit who is free.
  • Garage, patio and other areas outside the main house

Questions to ask the cleaner

Use these to compare quotes side by side.

  1. Can I see the checklist you use for an empty home?Match it against the landlord’s or buyer’s list, line by line.
  2. Are the oven, fridge, dishwasher, cabinets and blinds included? These are the items that usually get checked on a walkthrough.
  3. Will you take dated photos when you finish?Photos help if the landlord or buyer later says something was missed.
  4. What if I need you to come back for a missed spot?Ask for the re-clean terms before you book.
  5. Do you bring all supplies and equipment, including a vacuum and a ladder? An empty home has none of yours.
  6. Can you work around a tight time window?Movers and key handoffs can slip, so ask how flexible they are.

Photos protect you

Before you hand over the keys, walk through with your phone. Photograph each room, the inside of the oven and fridge, the bathrooms and the floors. Keep the dates on the photos.

If you are a renter, send the landlord a short note with the date you left. A written record helps if the deposit comes back short.

Texas security deposit rules for renters

  • The Texas Property Code says a landlord must refund the security deposit on or before the 30th day after the tenant surrenders the premises. This is Section 92.103.
  • Section 92.107 says the landlord has no duty to refund until the tenant gives a written forwarding address. A tenant who does not give one still keeps the right to a refund. Put your forwarding address in writing.
  • Section 92.104 says a landlord may not keep part of a deposit for normal wear and tear. When a landlord keeps part of it, an itemized list of deductions is owed if the rent is paid and there is no dispute.
  • This is general information, not legal advice. Read your lease, and ask the Texas State Law Library or a lawyer about your own situation.
